People with severe Alzheimer's disease

People with severe Alzheimer's disease are completely dependent on others for around-the-clock care. They're unable to respond to the environment, communicate, or perform basic daily activities (such as dressing, eating, or bathing).


Other symptoms may include:

Seizures

Weight loss

Increased risk of infections, including skin infections and pneumonia

Failure to recognize family and friends

Increased sleeping

Groaning, grunting, or moaning

Difficulty swallowing
