Epidemiological evidence from a number of studies demonstrated that healthy elderly subjects who had low blood concentration or intake of folate, vitamin B12, vitamin C, and riboflavin scored poorly on tests of memory and nonverbal abstract thinking.

One study found significant improvement in neuropsychiatric function among cobalamin-deficient patients after vitamin B12 supplementation. Martin et al reported cognitive recovery after vitamin B12 supplementation in patients with B12 deficiency.
