Dear Mr Read,

We acknowledge reception of the solid pine, settees which you sent to us according to our order of the 5th instant.
Although the boxes were intact, when we unpacked them we discovered that a certain number of the items were broken.
We have told the shipper about the damage and kept the boxes and their contents so that they may be inspected.

Yours faithfully,
Mervyn Little

Dear Sirs,

Your shipment was at last delivered yesterday from the air freight depot.
Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that the goods were clearly damaged.
I would therefore be obliged if you would send your representative. As soon as possible so that he can verify the situation himself.

Yours faithfully,
Mark Picard
